Ethnic Creations established itself in 1978 when Deb had
Hi, my name is Debra Wiitanen and I have owned and operated Ethnic Creations since 1978.
I have always made things with my hands since I was a small child.
When I got married in 1970, I started making things for my home. Then needed to find a way to bring income in the home without day care. So I started my business selling things out side of my home with my 3 kids, going to fairs around the area.
It wasn’t easy hauling my items, setting up a tent, and selling my items. Later on I had my grandkids help me and we had a lot of fun.
I opened a studio at my home in Embarrass where I live and have a shop to sell my wares.
In the studio I make and teach the things I know; quilting, felting, weaving, needle art, spinning, and much more.
Being off of the beaten path, business was slow so my husband and I started to pack for fairs again.
I love what I do and I do what I love and I wouldn’t change a thing.
